2014 CL&P and UI Standard Service Generation Rates

Customers of Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) and United Illuminating (UI) can choose among many companies for their Generation Service, which is shown as a separate line on customer electric bills.

CL&P and UI's Standard Service is the generation option provided through CL&P and UI to all residential and most business customers.  CL&P and UI Standard Service generation rates are fixed for six months - January 1st through June 30th and July 1st through December 31st.

Licensed electric suppliers offer an alternative to CL&P and UI Standard Service rates.  Many suppliers offer Fixed, Variable and Renewable energy rate plans that allow you to support renewable energy and may lower your costs.

Standard Service rates are reviewed and approved by the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) about 45 days before they become effective.  For example, Standard Service rates that become effective on January 1st are approved by PURA on or about November 15th while Standard Service rates that become effective on July 1st are approved by PURA on or about May 15th.

Consumers are urged to regularly review the generation rate on their electric bill to the CL&P or UI Standard Service rate and rates offered by licensed electric suppliers to help control electric costs.

CL&P and UI's 2014 Standard Service generation rates are shown below.
