Celebrating State and Municipal Achievements and Innovations in Energy Efficiency

Power of Change Award

The Power of Change Award celebrates and recognizes outstanding achievements among Connecticut's state and municipal buildings and leaders who have addressed energy efficiency.

Entries are designed to use data from the EPA's Energy Start Portfolio Manager. A panel of esteemed judges with expertise in energy, environment, business and education will review the results and select the winners. Winners will be honored at a formal ceremony at the State Capitol, along with an online tribute. There is no fee for entering.

State Awards

The top three most energy-efficient buildings will be awarded in the following categories:

  • Office Building
  • Courthouse
  • Public Higher Education Residence / Dormitory

Fast Track Award

The Fast Track Award recognizes the greatest overall energy reduction among Lead By Example funded state projects.

Innovation Award

The Innovation Award recognizes new and innovative ideas for energy reduction by State Agencies.

Municipal Awards

The most energy-efficient buildings will be awarded in the following categories:

  • Town Hall
  • Municipal Wastewater Treatment Facility
  • Public School Building

Innovation Award

The Innovation Award recognizes new and innovative ideas for energy reduction by municipalities.

Student Awards

The Power of Change Student Awards are open to students participating in the 9th annuall eesmarts Student Contest. This award is open to high school students in grades 9 through 11 participating in the Community Based Project category.
